'Msdossary': There's more to come
Mosaad 'Msdossary' Aldossary wins 2018 FIFA eWorld Cup
Saudi Arabian speaks about the triumph exclusively with FIFA.com
"I hope to bring a few more trophies home to my country"
Global champion. Mosaad ‘Msdossary’ Aldossary followed up his FUT Champions Cup Manchester victory with more British success, winning the FIFA eWorld Cup at The O2 in London.
The Saudi Arabian played out a very impressive tournament over three days. Having topped the ‘Group of Death’, the 18-year-old saw off Xbox top seed Michael ‘Megabit’ Bittner in the quarter-finals before recording an emphatic 8-3 aggregate victory over Kurt ‘kurt0411’ Fenech, who was undoubtedly one of the players of the tournament.
The Xbox titan then showed his versatility by beating Stefano ‘StefanoPinna’ Pinna 2-0 on his opponent’s preferred PlayStation console, before following up with another 2-0 victory on Xbox.
‘Msdossary’ becomes the first person to lift the new FIFA eWorld Cup trophy, as well as bagging a $250,000 USD prize and a trip to The Best FIFA Football Awards. FIFA.com caught up with the newly-crowned global champion shortly after his celebrations on stage.
“It makes it even more special to be crowned in front of such a big crowd,” said the Saudi Arabian, who relished playing at The O2. “Before the tournament my aim was to get into the semi-finals but once I made it to the top four my aim was to get this trophy.”
Experience key
Having won the FUT Champions Cup in April, ‘Msdossary’ is no stranger to playing at the highest levels of competitive FIFA gaming. The experience garnered in Manchester earlier in the year naturally stood him in good stead in London.
“I think the experience definitely helped,” he said. “I made a lot of bad decisions in my first few tournaments this year, but now I’m used to live competitions and I just play my usual game style which is the most important thing. It’s such a high level of FIFA at this tournament - so in the end just small things matter.
“I won two trophies in the 2018 season and I hope that I can perform on the same level next year."
It’s a second trophy this year that ‘Msdossary’ will be bringing back to the Middle East. He becomes the second Saudi Arabian winner of the tournament, his compatriot Abdulaziz Alshehri having won it in 2015, then known as the FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC).
“This year was my first time competing at the FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final. I hope to bring a few more trophies home to my country. I’m just 18-years-old, so there a few more years to come and I just want to make my country proud.
"I really want to show this trophy to my father and my mother. I want to spend time with them and with the trophy."
Having won the Grand Final, ‘Msdossary’ will now get his hands on a staggering $250,000 USD prize and the new eWorld Cup trophy. The FIFA 18 king, however, has no plans to spend the money yet. “I haven’t decided what to do with it yet. I’m just thinking about the trophy at the moment.”
The huge prize money and the new trophy is not all ‘Msdossary’ walks away with, though. Having won the Grand Final, he will now make the trip to next month’s The Best FIFA Football Awards where he hopes to meet his footballing idol. “I’d like to meet Cristiano Ronaldo. I always dreamed about that - and dreams come true.”
