Gianni Infantino meets Feguifut President Venancio Tomás Ndong
Feguifut President says relations with FIFA have improved under Gianni Infantino’s leadership
Priority for Feguifut is to improve training pitches
The President of the Equatorial Guinean Football Association (Feguifut), Venancio Tomás Ndong, has thanked Gianni Infantino for his support, saying that FIFA now treats all of its member associations equally. The Feguifut President, who was elected last year, said that "many things had changed" since Gianni Infantino took over the FIFA Presidency in 2016.
"The most important thing – and the thing that we value the most from him in terms of football development – is that all countries now have the same value (for FIFA)," he said, following the first meeting between the two presidents. "And this allows us to be able to develop our football in a dignified way with his support and that of all his partners." Venancio Tomás Ndong said that football development dominated the discussions between the two presidents, and that Feguifut's priority was to revamp the country's training pitches.
"We now want to develop football in all aspects," he said. "We have good infrastructure; what we are slightly lacking now is the renovation of training grounds to develop football at a fundamental level. As you may know, if there are no good training grounds, it is a bit complicated, even if you have stadiums." Equatorial Guinea has twice hosted the Africa Cup of Nations, jointly with Gabon in 2012 and then on its own in 2015 when the national team, the Nzalang Nacional, reached the semi-finals.
