FIFA and Calm continue to support mental wellness across the game

  • Joint FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ campaign to focus on the concept of ‘Mind. Body. Goal’ – a shared belief in the importance of mental and physical health in achieving success

  • Volunteers, players, staff, coaches, trainers and more to benefit from Premium access to Calm

During the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, FIFA collaborated with Calm, the leading mental health brand with the #1 app for sleep, meditation and relaxation, to bring mindfulness to players, coaches, staff, volunteers and more across the tournament. Now the organisations are teaming up again to deliver an even more impactful campaign around the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™. Once again, the volunteers, players, staff, coaches, trainers and more will all benefit from Premium access to Calm through dedicated micro portals, while Calm and FIFA reinforce their joint commitment to raising awareness of the importance of mental health and promote mindfulness in football. Fans, meanwhile, will be at the centre of the collaboration, as everyone involved looks to deepen the understanding and education of mental wellbeing. The campaign will focus on the concept of ‘Mind. Body. Goal’ and the joint commitment to ensuring that anyone, anywhere aligns their mind and body to achieve their ultimate goals – from everyday challenges to winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Together, Calm and FIFA will collaborate on a host of mindful content to help the global football community ‘find their calm’ on matchdays, while giving a platform to players, fans, and technical personnel alike to share their own experiences of promoting relaxation and peacefulness. Ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, Dr Andrew Massey, FIFA’s Director of Medical, said: “This is an important collaboration that will see FIFA and Calm come together to support those involved with the FIFA Women’s World Cup to feel comfortable and empowered. This tournament will be the biggest standalone women’s sporting event in the world, and with the support of Calm, everyone that plays their part to take the tournament Beyond Greatness™, from the fans to the players, to the workforce and volunteers, will be equipped to understand and prioritise their mental health.” “The well-being of players is at the heart of all of our decisions and by providing all 32 teams at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Premium access to Calm, players can utilise this tool that will support them through the tournament and beyond.” Globally, Calm has helped countless members achieve an overall boost in their mental wellbeing, be that from better sleep or an increased sense of mental health. Studies have proven the effectiveness of Calm – with members reporting an 84% better mental state, 81% less stress, and 73% better sleep quality when the App is used regularly.
