Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium (JNI), Kochi

Built in 1996, it’s a multipurpose stadium situated in Kochi, Kerala, known locally as the “Kaloor Stadium”. It is one of the three FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 stadiums to be named after Jawaharlal Nehru, who was India's first Prime Minister (1947-1964), and one of the main political figures in the country during and after the struggle for independence.

Architecturally the stadium is distinctive, with giant convex floodlight pylons arching over the ground. This makes for a furnace-like effect when the ground is at all of its 55,000-strong capacity, and makes the Kaloor Stadium, one of the noisiest in the world at full capacity. Another unique aspect of the stadium is its lighting towers of 2 kW floodlights. The structure of the tower in one of its kind in India.

It is Kerala Blasters (ISL franchise) home ground. The Blasters have one of the best fanbases in the Indian Super League as the people of Kerala are extremely passionate about the beautiful game. In fact, the Kerala Blasters have the highest average attendance (over 47,000) for football clubs outside of Europe in domestic league matches. The city of Kochi flanked by the Western Ghats on the east, and Arabian Sea on the west, is a beautiful place to play football.
