In 2007, FIFA published a first commentary to supplement the Regulations on Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP), which were adopted in 2001 following cooperation and negotiations between FIFA and the European Commission.

To mark the event and in order to celebrate the launch of the new Commentary edition, FIFA has organised a workshop on 10 November 2021, starting at 14.00 CET, with the participation of FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Mario Monti, EU Commissioner on Competition at the time when FIFA RSTP were adopted. In addition, the workshop will include two round table discussions on the evolution of the RSTP since its inception with key experts in the field.

The Commentary on the RSTP edition 2021 is a crucial document which will support football associations, clubs, players, leagues and football legal experts towards a consistent implementation of the rules across the global football community.
