Visits to be conducted in November and December this year
FIFA delegation to meet with representatives from local, regional and national authorities in all three countries
Programme to include inspections of candidate stadiums and supporting infrastructure
FIFA will undertake a series of venue visits across Morocco, Portugal and Spain during November and December this year as part of the ongoing planning process for the FIFA World Cup 2030™.
A FIFA delegation comprising representatives from key functional areas will visit candidate host cities and stadiums across the three countries. The visits form an important stage in the venue selection process and will allow FIFA to assess the readiness, operational plans and proposed tournament infrastructure of each candidate venue.
Throughout the visits, the FIFA delegation will meet with representatives from local, regional and national authorities, stadium operators, transport and mobility stakeholders, accommodation providers and other key delivery partners.
The delegation will visit the following candidate host cities: Agadir, Barcelona, Bilbao, Casablanca, Fez, Las Palmas, Lisbon, Madrid, Marrakech, Porto, Rabat, San Sebastián, Seville, Tangier and Zaragoza. Please note that FIFA may conduct visits to additional venues during the course of the venue selection process.
The venue visits are designed to support an evaluation of each candidate host city and candidate stadium against FIFA’s hosting requirements. The process will help inform FIFA’s decision-making regarding the final selection of venues for the FIFA World Cup 2030.
The number of matches and the corresponding match types played in each venue will be decided only once the host cities have been confirmed and as part of the process for determining the match schedule, as FIFA continues to work closely with all stakeholders across Morocco, Portugal and Spain to advance preparations for the tournament.
Further information regarding the FIFA World Cup 2030 venue selection process will be communicated in due course.
