2026 update

The goal of achieving a minimum of USD 11 billion revenues has been a key driver of FIFA’s overall activity during the President’s current term and an incredible new record for the organisation.

In doing so, FIFA has committed not only to good governance in its daily business but also in being more present for its MAs. After the 2023 opening of an office in Jakarta, Indonesia, a new home for its Member Associations Division was established in Paris and inaugurated around the Olympic Games in the French capital in 2024. The FIFA Africa Office in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, opened in July 2025 with Mr Infantino stating, “From here, we will have a global impact on football.”

The FIFA Forward programme plays a significant role in connecting FIFA to the MAs given its place at the heart of shaping football’s future, and it has been reinforced significantly during its third cycle. After USD 2.8 billion was made available to MAs for over 1,600 specific projects between 2016 and 2022, FIFA Forward 3.0 is delivering even greater impact through increased investment with USD 2.25 billion allocated to this phase alone. Each MA can apply for up to USD 8 million from 2023 to 2026 – seven times the allocation available to them in 2016 – taking FIFA Forward’s total funding to USD 5.075 billion across the decade of Mr Infantino’s presidency. Furthermore, those global projects can be followed with even greater transparency with the publication of a revised and improved FIFA Forward Impact Map on FIFA.com in 2024.

The redistribution of football revenues back into the game was highlighted by the FIFA Council approval in December 2025 of a record-breaking contribution of USD 727 million as a result of the FIFA World Cup 2026. For the 48 participating teams, it marks a 50% increase on the 2022 edition and with USD 1.5 million allocated to cover preparation costs, each MA is guaranteed a minimum of USD 10.5 million from their participation in the tournament.

In order to sustain and progressively build on its redistribution, FIFA not only protects and enhances its global reputation, but has been able to capitalise on that through impressive commercial agreements around its expanded suite of tournaments.

As well as being an incredible success on the field, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 was also backed by an extensive commercial roster and sponsorship packages for the landmark tournament were sold out, representing growth of well over 100% when compared to the previous edition in France four years earlier. The partnership programme for the first 32-team edition of the tournament boasted five global FIFA partners, two global women’s football partners, nine global FIFA Women’s World Cup sponsors and 14 FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament supporters. Following Hisense’s extension of its eight-year relationship with FIFA in September 2025 after they had also become the first Official Partner of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, only one global partnership position remained for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Goal 11 overview

Improving and promoting football is a key statutory objective for FIFA. Therefore investing in the development of football in close collaboration with all 211 FIFA member associations and other relevant stakeholders needs to be managed in a transparent and efficient manner. With new and expanded tournaments in place for the next cycle and additional revenue streams anticipated, supported by a fit-for-purpose modern and efficient administration, the future is in football’s hands to effectively support the next generations.
