Oceania champions Tahiti the first to arrive in Asuncion

  • The Tiki Toa arrived in Paraguay on 6 November

  • They finished runners-up at the last two Beach Soccer World Cups

  • “The purpose now is, of course, to finally win a World Cup," coach Bennett

Having finished as runners-up in the last two editions of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, the Tiki Toa (Warrior Gods) of Tahiti are leaving nothing to chance. That would explain why they became the first nation to arrive in Paraguay ahead of this year's highly-anticipated FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Paraguay 2019, 15 days before the competition gets under way.

Head coach Naea Bennett's charges will be one of the favourites to win the tournament, however he recognises the increasing level of quality that exists on the circuit these days. "We have played five or six games since the last World Cup, which is ridiculous compared to some of the other teams," he told FIFA.com. "The first objective is to be part of the second round, and then everything is possible."

The champions of the OFC Beach Soccer Championship will compete in Group B against the likes of Italy (21 November), Mexico (23 Nov) and Uruguay (25 Nov).

“We are very happy to have reached two World Cup finals,” Bennett told FIFA.com. “The purpose now is, of course, to finally win a World Cup. We know it is very hard because the level is increasing every year."
