Match officials announced for final round of FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup™ group stage matches

  • FIFA name referees and assistants for matches on 6, 7 and 8 September

  • Total of 58 female match officials are taking charge of games in Colombia

  • Football Video Support (VS) is being trialled at the tournament

Match officials have been confirmed for the final round of group stage games at the FIFA Women's U-20 World Cup Colombia 2024™. The decisive matches in Groups A and B will be played on Friday, 6 September, with Groups C and D to be settled on Saturday, 7 September and Groups E and F on Sunday, 8 September. The Group A match between hosts Colombia – already qualified for the round of 16 – and Mexico in Medellín will be refereed by Iuliana Demetrescu (Romania), assisted by Svitlana Grushko (Ukraine) and Amina Gutschi (Austria) and with Vincentia Amedome (Togo) as the fourth official. The group's other match, between Australia and Cameroon in Bogotá, will be officiated by USA trio of Natalie Simon (referee), Meghan Mullen and Kali Smith (assistants), with Susana Corella (Ecuador) as the fourth official.

In Group B, Italy’s Maria Sole Ferrieri Caputi will take charge of the match between Brazil, already into the round of 16, and Canada in Bogotá, assisted by compatriot Tiziana Trasciatti and Vanessa Gomes of Portugal, with Corella as the fourth official. Also in Group B, the Ecuadorean trio of Marcelly Zambrano (referee), Viviana Segura and Stefanía Paguay (assistants) will officiate the match between Fiji and France in Medellín, with Amedome as the fourth official. In Group C, Hyeonjeong Oh of Korea Republic will referee Morocco v Spain - the latter already qualified for the round of 16 - in Cali, assisted by compatriot Kyoungmin Kim and Thailand's Supawan Hinthong, with Lizzet García of Mexico as the fourth referee. North Macedonia's Ivana Projkovska will take charge of USA v Paraguay in Bogotá, assisted by Linda Schmid (Switzerland) and Camille Soriano (France), with Susana Corella (Ecuador) as the fourth official.

For Group D, the Spanish trio of Marta Huerta (referee), Guadalupe Porras and Eliana Fernández (assistants) will take charge of Venezuela v Nigeria in Cali, where García will be the fourth official. The Korea Republic's match against Germany - already into the round of 16 – in Bogotá will be officiated by the Uruguayan trio of Anahí Fernández (referee), Daiana Fernández and Belén Clavijo (assistants), with Corella as the fourth official. For the decisive games in Group E, referee Shahenda Saad (Egypt), assistants Soukaina Hamdi (Morocco) and Asma Ouahab (Algeria) will take charge of the Austria v Japan match in Bogotá with Vincentia Amedome (Togo) as fourth official. New Zealand's match against Ghana in Cali will be officiated by the Colombian trio of Maria Victoria Daza (referee), Mayra Sánchez and Eliana Ortiz (assistants) with Lizzet Garcia of Mexico as the fourth official. Argentina's match against Costa Rica in Bogotá in Group F will be refereed by China PR's Fangyu Dong (referee), Lijun Xie and Mengxiao Bao (assistants) and Amedome as fourth official. Guatemalan trio Astrid Gramajo (referee), Iris Vail and Sherly Socop (assistants), will take charge of Netherlands v Korea DPR in Cali, with Garcia as the fourth official. A total of 58 women match officials, including 18 referees, 36 assistant referees and four support referees, are taking take charge of the matches during the competition, which is being staged from 31 August to 22 September. History is also being made in Colombia with the trial of Football Video Support (VS), a simplified alternative to video assistant referees (VAR), as FIFA continues to drive the use of technology to help referees.
