League and club professionalisation the focus at Abu Dhabi workshop

  • Workshop planned with representatives from South-West Asian member associations

  • First event of its kind underlines FIFA’s commitment to growth of professional game

FIFA is hosting a workshop focusing on league and club professionalisation in Abu Dhabi, a new initiative to encourage knowledge sharing and debate between member association representatives from South-West Asia that underpins FIFA’s commitment to stakeholder engagement and the sustainable growth of professional football.

The event, to be held ahead of the final of FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2021™ on 12 February, is being organised by FIFA’s Professional Football Department in conjunction with both the FIFA Regional Development Office in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates Football Association.

Key topics include the structure, governance and regulatory framework of the game, as well as issues relating to club football worldwide. The forum will also establish a solid roadmap for ongoing dialogue and information exchange between participants.

The sessions will kick off a programme of bespoke and strategic assistance that is being offered to attendees to support their continued professionalisation of the game through clubs and of competitions through stakeholder engagement, which in turn will further FIFA’s vision of making football truly global.
