Qatar to host the final three matches of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup™, following approval by the Bureau of the Council

FIFA has confirmed that Qatar will host the final three matches of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2026™, with continental champions competing for three trophies on 9, 12 and 16 December. Jassim bin Hamad Stadium will stage the FIFA Derby of the Americas™ on Wednesday, 9 December and the FIFA Challenger Cup™ on Saturday, 12 December. The competition will conclude at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium on Wednesday, 16 December, when UEFA Champions League winners and defending FIFA Intercontinental Cup champions Paris Saint-Germain will face the FIFA Challenger Cup winners. This will be the third consecutive year that Qatar has hosted the concluding matches of the annual competition, which brings together the champions of all six confederations. Real Madrid lifted the trophy in 2024, before Paris Saint-Germain claimed the title in 2025. The 2026 competition began in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on 26 August, when AFC Champions League winners Al Ahli FC defeated OFC Champions League winners Auckland FC 1-0 in the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Play-off™. CAF Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns FC then overcame Al Ahli FC 2-1 in Pretoria, South Africa, on 19 September to win the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup™ and secure their place in the FIFA Challenger Cup.
In Qatar, Concacaf Champions Cup winners Toluca FC will face the winners of the CONMEBOL Libertadores 2026 in the FIFA Derby of the Americas. The winners will advance to meet Mamelodi Sundowns for the FIFA Challenger Cup and a place in the final against Paris Saint-Germain.
