Following 22 months of construction, the Rhein Neckar Arena in Sinsheim was opened amid much fanfare in January 2009. The stadium boasts a capacity of 25,475. Bundesliga club 1899 Hoffenheim play their home matches at the arena, which will host three group-stage matches and the match for third place during the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011.
The first women's international game to take place at the stadium was between Germany and the Netherlands on 25 July 2009. The hosts ran out 6-0 winners in front of a bumper crowd of 22,537.
