The new Rudolf Harbig Stadion in Dresden was completely rebuilt in 2009, replacing the structure which had previously stood there for over 100 years. The final stage of the redevelopment, the West Stand, was completed in August 2008. With a capacity of 25,598, the stadium is the home of third division club Dynamo Dresden.
During the construction process, the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 Organising Committee visited the site and subsequently chose it as one of the nine host cities for the tournament. Dresden also proved itself to be an excellent host during the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.<span style="font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: 12pt;">
