Bhubaneswar

Referred to as the ‘Temple city of India’, Bhubaneswar is a confluence of Hindu, Jain and Buddhist heritage boasting some of the finest Kalinga temples.

In total, the city has more than thousand temples. Along with Jamshedpur and Chandigarh, it was one of India’s modern planned cities, designed by German architect Otto Konigsberger.

It is also known for its seafood. This includes a famous rice and fish curry, known as Maccha Jhola, and other preparations of lobster and crabs brought in from the famous Chillika Lake.

The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is the latest big ticket sporting event the city will be hosting after the Hockey World Cup in 2018 and the Asian Athletics Championship in 2017.
