Los Catrachos score two second-half goals
Vietnam playing in first ever U-20 World Cup
Honduras ended their FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic 2017 journey on a high note with a 2-0 victory over Vietnam in Jeonju in Group E.
Substitute Sendel Cruz and Jorge Alvarez scored what were Honduras' first goals of the tournament in Korea Republic. Cruz scored in the 76th minute with a close-range finish while Alvarez netted in stoppage time, firing a low shot past Vietnam goalkeeper Tien Dung Bui.
The Vietnamese, boosted by a great showing of support at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium, had the better of possession and opportunities in the first half, but failed to convert their chances. In the 85th minute Vietnam nearly bagged an equaliser, but Quang Hai Nguyen saw his effort rattle the post before Alvarez put the result beyond any doubt.
France ended up winning Group E with New Zealand finishing runners-up, while Vietnam and Honduras are both headed home.
