Poland soar to first win on home soil

The hosts won their first match at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Poland 2019 in style, a 5-0 result over Tahiti. With the support of their home crowd, The White Eagles took control of the match early and never looked back.

Poland's first came via volley from Jakub Bednarczyk in the 18th minute. Next, Marcel Zylla's attacking consistency paid off as he nabbed his first goal from a half-volley that bounced over the goalkeeper's head. Dominik Steczyk joined in when he scored Poland's third goal two minutes later, putting his team in a strong position six minute from half-time.

Tahiti's best chance came in the 82nd minute, when Tutehau Tufariua fired a shot that Radosław Majecki was able to parry out for a corner.

Steczyk completed his brace in the 61st minute of the second half, playing a pivotal role on the attacking front. The hosts will be roaring with confidence after their performance, due to face first-place Senegal next.
