It was a festive atmosphere for the 17,463 fans on hand to see hosts Poland kick off their FIFA U-20 World Cup campaign against Colombia, but Los Cafeteros brought their own energy and came away with a 2-0 victory at Lodz Stadium.
Forward Ivan Angulo opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, capitalising on an errant pass from Sebastian Walukiewicz. The Colombian No7 was tireless, making runs between defenders before being subbed off. Colombia would add a second goal late on, this time with substitute Luis Sandoval doing the damage.
