Colombia cruise past Tahiti to reach Round of 16

Colombia's No10 Juan Hernandez netted a hat-trick to propel his side to a 6-0 victory against Tahiti on Wednesday night at Lublin Stadium. The result secured Los Cafeteros' spot in the knockout stage at Poland 2019.

Luis Sinisterra opened the scoring in the eighth minute, heading home Jaime Alvarado's corner kick at the near post.

Despite a spirited defensive effort from Tahiti following the opener, Colombia broke through to score three times in five minutes at the end of the first half. Sinisterra completed his brace in the 37th minute, before Hernandez slotted home in the 38th and 42nd minutes.

Hernandez collected his hat-trick in the 70th minute, volleying in Ivan Angulo's cross, before substitute Deiber Caicedo's jinking individual effort three minutes from full time capped off a dominant performance for Los Cafeteros, who are through to the Round of 16 as second-place finishers in Group A. Tahiti, meanwhile, will bow out of the competition in the group stage.
