The Fatorda Stadium in Goa is one of the three FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 stadiums (along with Kochi and New Delhi) to be named after Jawaharlal Nehru, who was India's first Prime Minister (1947-1964), and one of the main political figures in the country during and after the struggle for independence. The Pandit before his name in the Goa stadium refers to his roots from the Kashmiri Pandit, which is a Brahmin community and it is a common way to refer to Nehru. PJN Fatorda stadium is located in the city of Margao.

It is Goa's only international stadium and has a seating capacity of 19,000 spectators. The venue was opened in 1989 and renovated in 2014 for the Lusofonia Games. It is the current home of FC Goa (ISL), Dempo SC, Salgaocar SC, and Sporting Clube de Goa (all I-League clubs). This venue has long been a mainstay of Indian football, having played host to many international games, including India's qualifiers for both the FIFA World Cup™ and AFC Asian Cup. The PJN Fatorda Stadium was the main venue for the AFC U-16 Championship played in India during September-October 2016, which also served as Asian qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017.
