Rebuilt from the national stadium used for Tokyo 1964 specifically for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the new Olympic Stadium will host the opening and closing ceremonies, athletics and, of course, football. Led by architect Kengo Kuma, construction broke ground on 11 December 2016. After the Tokyo 2020 Games have concluded, the stadium will be used for sporting and cultural events.
