A total of 29 players have been sent off at the FIFA Confederations Cup and, of those, 14 received straight red cards.
The first player to be given his marching orders at the Tournament of Champions was USA midfielder Brian Quinn, who saw red in the 81st minute of the semi-final encounter with Saudi Arabia in October 1992.
The Stars and Stripes lead the way in terms of straight red cards at the Confederations Cup (four) after surging to the top of this particular ranking at South Africa 2009, when three of their players were dismissed: Ricardo Clark in the 3-1 loss to Italy, Sacha Kljestan in the 3-0 defeat to Brazil and Michael Bradley in the 2-0 semi-final win over Spain.
The Americans had another man sent from the field of play in 1999, after midfielder Matt McKeon picked up two yellow cards. Egypt have also had five red cards in Confederations Cup matches, but only three have been straight reds.
The 29th player to be sent off in the competition was Spain defender Gerard Pique, who left his team a man down in the final of the Confederations Cup 2013, which they lost 3-0 to Brazil.
