Monterrey chasing fourth Concacaf title
Tigres yet to win continental tournament
A lone strike from Nico Sanchez has given Monterrey a handy away win at Tigres in the first leg of the Concacaf Champions League final on Tuesday.
Sanchez powered home a header directly from a corner two minutes before half-time against the run of play.
At the other end, Monterrey goalkeeper Marcelo Barovero pulled off a string of second-half saves as Tigres dominated possession.
Monterrey will host the return next Wednesday seeking their fourth title and first since 2013. Tigres have never won the continental tournament.
