Ecuador snare ticket to Bahamas

Ecuador secured qualification to their maiden FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in dramatic fashion on Sunday.

Ecuador played out a tense 4-4 draw against Argentina with overtime unable to separate the pair in Asuncion. The penalty shoot-out was equally on edge and after Argentina missed their three attempts, Ecuador converted their third and final kick to reach Bahamas 2017.

With Brazil and Paraguay qualifying on Saturday, South America’s three representatives are now confirmed for Bahamas 2017, which will be held in Nassau between April 27 and May 7.

Brazil snatched another continental crown later in the evening with an intensely fought 7-5 win over home side Paraguay in the final.
