The Best FIFA Women's Player

In a FIFA Women’s World Cup™ year, it is clear that the passion and excitement around the women’s game is growing – as is the interest from fans and media alike. Those at the very top of their profession, perhaps even more so than in the men’s game, transcend their sport and inspire youngsters across the world.

Carli Lloyd, Lieke Martens and Marta were the trio of elite players that were named The Best FIFA Women’s Player for 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively, and there is no doubt that France 2019 will play a role in determining this year’s champion.

The ten-woman shortlist for The Best FIFA Women’s Player 2019 award will be compiled by a panel of experts representing all of FIFA’s confederations and revealed in late July. From that shortlist, key members of the women’s footballing community - namely journalists, fans, national team coaches and captains - will vote for the winner, with the final three nominees to be announced at a later date.

All award winners will be revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards show in Milan on Monday 23 September.
