The tension is building at a rapid pace across the FIFA eSports world as the FIFA eClub World Cup is set to kick-off its third edition, featuring the leading club sides in the business.

With 16 eFootball clubs and organisations in the mix, 32 players are set to take to PlayStation and Xbox in search of both EA Sports Global Series Points and their share of the $100,000 prize pot.

Live from London across Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 February, the tournament will be broken up into group and knockout matches across the two days.

Saturday – Groups: 10:00-18:30 GMT

Sunday – Knockouts: 9.45-16:00 GMT

"Honestly, I’m looking at this tournament as a very good opportunity to win a trophy. I’m with an extremely good partner and I’ve got a lot of belief in him. I really, really am desperate to win another trophy, so I’d love to win this one. A lot of matches are going to go to the two v two game and I don’t think anyone knows what’s going to happen there."

"I’m confident but it can go any way. Being around this level of FIFA talent is inspiring and there are points on the line, too! Playing two v two is something that we’re not really used to, so it’s going to be good for everyone that watches, but for us players I’m not so sure!"

"It’s one of my favourite events of the year, I’ve been lucky enough to work on it since the start of – the Brondby domination era, shall we call it? Will it continue, we’ll have to wait and see. KiNG eSports are clearly the favourites going into it, being top of both leaderboards worldwide.

"Two v two events often throw up some surprising results. Suddenly you have to play well with others, which isn’t always everyone in eSports’ best skill!"

"I think people feel the tournament is over already and that me and Nicholas are going to win, but it’s difficult because it’s just the best of one [in the knockouts] and if one of us lose its two v two. With two v two anyone can win, so it’s going to be more difficult than people think."

Having clinched the title in both 2017 and 2018, Brondby arrive with plenty of pedigree to their name. Can they complete a clean-sweep hat-trick with more glory this year? Many people, including themselves, think KiNG could be the big challenger for their crown, but the Danish duo are backing themselves this weekend.

"We’re feeling confident and we believe we have the level of skill to do it once again this year. The team format suits Brondby really well and we’ll see if it continues this week. The environment we’re able to build over the whole year gives us a huge advantage.

"Last week we were at a tournament with a similar format – the Nordic championships – and we won the key two v two games, so we have a real edge."

"To complete the hat-trick in just the third edition of the eClub World Cup? I hope we can do it. We have practised a lot and are able to play together a lot of the time at home. We’re close friends and, as Frederik said, it’s a major advantage.

"There are some very good teams in our group though, Wolves and City are impressive, and there are a lot of teams that can go all the way. These are the best players in the world, so there are plenty of sides who are in with a chance."
