The Iran Football Medical Assessment and Research Center (IFMARC) will be a revolutionary centre for medical and rehabilitation practices in Iran. It will be used by all national teams in their respective sports as well as by professional athletes.
The centre is designed as a multifunctional centre that will have a centre for performance excellence, a gym, recovery and regeneration facilities, rehabilitation facilities, treatment rooms and hydrotherapy.
What makes the IFMARC centre stand out is its unique location. It has access to four football pitches, one artificial turf pitch, a beach football pitch, three hotels, as well as the Azadi Olympic Complex, which has several sports training centres and federations such as wrestling, volleyball and cycling.
The IR Iran Football Federation is heavily involved in IFMARC activities, and demands that all teams in the league have a pre-season medical test that has to be taken at the centre.
IFMARC has internationally recognised female and male doctors and physiotherapists who provide the highest level of quality services. All doctors and physicians are continually trained to ensure that the centre stays at the forefront of medical advancement and rehabilitation.
The centre provides services for players, referees and coaches for both male and female professionals. The services can be divided into three fields:
Sports medicine
Rehabilitation
Fitness and performance assessments
The centre’s aim is to reach optimum levels of services and research. For example, by creating a medical and health database for all players at all levels of play in order to use the information for research, injury prevention programmes and to standardise football medicine. The centre will also aim to evaluate medical elements in both health and fitness alongside pre-season and mid-season tests. There will be rehabilitation of football and other sports injuries under the guidance of the specialists as well as educational activities for injury prevention for players, coaches, referees and other related staff.
IFMARC is the first centre of its kind in Central Asia which several countries can easily access. The centre is open to all international teams and players who need IFMARC’s services.
As of April 2015, IFMARC has signed agreements with 13 universities, hospitals and research centres in Iran for a period of five years. These agreements will help to foster research that will evaluate the players more precisely.
