Five more FIFA Legends to grace the Sydney Opera House Forecourt

FIFA today announced that a further five FIFA Legends will participate in Saturday’s Beyond Greatness™ Community Football Tournament at the iconic Sydney Opera House. On Thursday FIFA unveiled the unique initiative which will unite forty local female footballers with some of the stars of the sport for a truly special event ahead of the final two matches at the record-setting FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™. Now, FIFA can confirm that Patrizia Panco (ITA), Maia Jackman (NZL), Aya Miyama (JPN), Mana Iwabuchi (JPN), and Alex Scott (ENG) will join counterparts Formiga (BRA), Laura Georges (FRA), Fara Williams (ENG), and Kelly Smith (ENG) at the star-studded tournament.

The FIFA Legends will join two Indigenous Representative U16 teams, as well as U16 female footballers from Kissing Point FC and Hurlstone Park Wanderers FC, in a round-robin competition. Both Kissing Point FC and Hurlstone Park Wanderers FC have achieved Football Australia Club Changer 1 Star Status, demonstrating their commitment to the development of women’s and girls’ football. The two Indigenous representative teams competed in the NAIDOC Cup, which was recently established for selected Indigenous footballers aged 13 to 16 to represent Northern New South Wales Football against Indigenous teams from Football New South Wales.

The Beyond Greatness™ Community Football Tournament will be held between 2pm and 5pm on Saturday afternoon. Fans will be able to view the tournament on the steps of the Sydney Opera House, with free entry from 1.30pm local time. Millions of girls and boys around the globe have been inspired by this year’s record-breaking tournament in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, and Saturday’s tournament on the steps of the Sydney Opera House will further demonstrate football’s power to bring joy, peace, hope, love, and passion to people and communities the world over.
