eFootball in May

  • Plenty of eFootball events and titles up for grabs in May

  • eChampions League, various leagues, LQE and FIFA 19 Cup

  • Overview of recent FIFA 19 Global Series events

Rarely has there been such a busy month for the FIFA 19 Global Series. May saw 'F2Tekkz' raise yet another trophy aloft, 'NYC_Chris' won the inaugural eChampions League and leagues around the world crowned their eFootball champions for the season. Here is a look back at some of the highlights from the month of May:

eChampions League

Winner: 'NYC_Chris'

The eight finalists all had their eyes on lifting the eChampions League trophy for the first time. 'DrNightWatch', 'NYC_Chris', 'Zezinho' and 'Marcuzo' made it through the first round and then did battle in an exciting pair of semi-finals. In the end, it was 'DrNightWatch' from Bulgaria who faced USA’s 'NYC_Chris' in the final, with the man from New York City FC coming out on top and receiving the inaugural eChampions League crown.

PGL FIFA 19 Cup

Winner: 'F2Tekkz'

'F2Tekkz' managed his seventh tournament win of the season, this time at the PGL FIFA 19 Cup to further increase his lead at the top of the FIFA 19 Global Series Rankings. There will be no hotter favourite than him in the play-offs and at the FIFA eWorld Cup 2019.

Two Scandinavian league champions

Malmo and Valerenga take the titles in Sweden and Norway

The eAllsvenskan and the Altibox eSerien crowned their eFootball champions on consecutive days last month. The Swedish title went to Malmo, while Valerenga took the honours in Norway.

Top leagues come to an end, on the pitch and in the digital sphere

Winners: 'MegaBit', 'Gravesen' and 'Maestro'

In a case of life imitating art, or rather the virtual imitating the real, the German, French and Spanish leagues all came to a conclusion in May. Two-time Grand Finalist 'MegaBit' won the VBL, 'Gravesen' took the LaLiga eSports title, and FIFA eNations Cup™ champion 'Maestro' won the final of the eLigue 1 against his French international team-mate 'DaXe'.

Australian national team features in domestic final

Winner: 'FUTWIZ Marko’

It was a similar story in Australia, where one FIFA eNations Cup™ team member defeated another in the final. 'FUTWIZ Marko’ got the better of 'MarcusGomes' to take the Australian title on behalf of Sydney FC.

Saudi Arabian double

Al-Ittihad win two trophies

Led by reigning FIFA eWorld Cup champion 'Msdossary', Al-Ittihad Saudi Club secured a pair of titles, taking home both the eSPL and the eMBS in what was an incredible month for the team.

ELEAGUE LQE and Ekstraklasa

Winners: 'Dagnolf96' and Pogon Szczecin

In early May, 'Dagnolf96' won the ELEAGUE LQE title and leapt up into the top 30 of the FIFA 19 Global Series Rankings. Pogon Szczecin also finished top in the inaugural Ekstraklasa to take home the Polish title.
