The aforementioned awards show in Zurich on 9 January was also the occasion for an emotional reunion between one Diego Maradona and the FIFA World Cup™Trophy. There will be more World Cup-related content on Wednesday, albeit on that occasion we will be going back much further. The following day, it will be time for the latest instalment of our weekly series revisiting landmark moments and key figures in the history of the global extravaganza.

Also on Thursday, we will be recapping the group stage of the 2017 CAF Africa Cup of Nations, ensuring that you are in the know ahead of the quarter-finals. Furthermore, as we have done up to now, we will be continuing to bring you updates from the event in Gabon right through to the final on 5 February, from daily round-ups to analysis and exclusive interviews.
