Given the predominance at CAS of football-related disputes in comparison to other sports, CAS and FIFA decided to set up a specialist list of 200 arbitrators. The arbitrators forming the ‘Football List’ are appointed by ICAS as per the proposals submitted by the six confederations, clubs (ECA), leagues (WLF), players (FIFPro), ICAS and FIFA. The proposals by the aforementioned institutions do not mean that the proposed arbitrators have any relationship whatsoever with the proposing institutions, as all the above institutions have striven to propose arbitrators only on the basis of their recognized legal competence and renown expertise on football and disputes settlement. Moreover, the proposals are no guarantee that the relevant arbitrators will be included on the Football List, as such decision lies strictly with ICAS. Therefore, all arbitrators appearing on the Football List remain independent from the respective stakeholder having proposed them as well as from the parties nominating them in a given procedure. Indeed, upon their appointment, the individual arbitrators will sign a declaration undertaking to exercise their functions with total objectivity, independence and impartiality and then, on a case-by-case basis, will have the responsibility to submit their statements of independence and impartiality, transparently disclosing any possible conflicts of interest and all relevant information in accordance with Swiss law, international standards and CAS rules and guidelines. The following list represents all arbitrators from the Football List for the 2023-2026 term, including whom each was proposed by for inclusion in the list. In addition the list specifies which of these arbitrators FIFA has proactively nominated in cases since 15 June 2023, as well as the case reference of the respective nomination(s)*. * The list is updated on this page every four months.
