FIFA President visits new DFB Campus in Frankfurt

  • Gianni Infantino tours the recently inaugurated German Football Association (DFB) Campus

  • The project was part-funded by the FIFA Forward Programme

  • Productive meetings held with the DFB President and General Secretary

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has visited the new DFB Campus for the first time and met with senior members of the German Football Association to congratulate them on the completion of a facility that is “open to the world”. Mr Infantino – who was accompanied by former Bundesliga players Youri Djorkaeff and Pascal Zuberbühler – was hosted by DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and General Secretary Heike Ullrich, together with former Germany international and current Managing Director for national teams and academy, Oliver Bierhoff, who guided the FIFA President through the building and across the pitches.

“One can breathe football here, from almost each corner of the building you can see football pitches,” the FIFA President said. “It is great to see that the DFB Campus is open for the world and able to impart its extensive knowledge through the new campus and onto future generations. I congratulate all those involved in planning and delivery of this exceptional facility – it is an extraordinary achievement.” Set across 15 hectares in Frankfurt, the campus was officially inaugurated in July 2022, and the complex features grass pitches and training areas, as well as an indoor football hall with an artificial pitch, an athletes’ centre, conference and seminar rooms and a futsal hall. The project, which the DFB estimate will create more than 700 new jobs, received funding from the FIFA Forward Programme. President Infantino also held constructive discussions with President Neuendorf and General Secretary Ullrich in relation to the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. The meeting also featured women’s football topics, while the FIFA President took the opportunity to congratulate their national team on their recent qualification to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™ which begins on 20 July 2023.
